Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Melissa Tschida of Petsense in Marco Island, Florida! Melissa always shows tremendous attention to detail, especially with her prep work. We’re so impressed with the quality and efficiency of her work, and we’re positive she has a great career ahead of her!
Her mentor Liz Thompson tells us, “I have loved getting to know Melissa! Watching her growth through the program has been so much fun! Melissa showcases that she is a Star Student with every conversation and submission she displays. She has that attention to detail in her work that we strive to see in all students that move through the program. Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as a career because I love dogs and so do most of the people I know. I realized that there was a great shortage of dog groomers in my neighborhood, and I thought that would be a great thing for me to do! I really enjoy my work and it is a very rewarding career. It is so fun to see the transformation of the dogs and wonderful to see the excitement and gratitude of the family when they pick the dog up.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
The educational material was thorough and I learned so much. Watching the videos and tutorials was what I enjoyed most. It is so helpful to see every done in great detail.
Where can we see your work?
I work at PetSense in Marco Island, Florida.
What are your future goals?
I plan to practice my skills and continue to improve on them. Someday I will become a master groomer.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Paying attention to detail, and the entire process is very important. You can’t have a good groom without excellent prep work. A squeaky clean, dry, and tangle free coat gives you the best outcome. Watching the videos provided by the course and many additional videos and resources online are very helpful on improving your skill.
