Maine Rising Star Finds Perfect Balance Between Efficiency and Patience While Grooming
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Elsa Hersey of Pet Supplies Plus in South Portland, Maine! Elsa is a bonafide self-starter, and we were so impressed with her work ethic. We are also glad to see that she’s showing an interest in cat grooming – an area of the industry that is often underserved. We can’t wait to see what she does next!
Her mentor Suesan Watson tells us, “Elsa is a very self-motivated individual. She came into the Groom Tech program and went right to work, she completed each skill well and took every critique and used it to her advantage. She completed Level 1 a month earlier than she was scheduled to and I for one cannot wait to see where she is headed on this journey. I have no doubt that she will exceed even where she thought she would be. Great Job!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always loved animals and have been surrounded by them my whole life. I started out as a dog bather before joining this program. I love working with dogs and the end results are always so rewarding.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
When I get attacked by dog kisses while taking photos.

Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Patience. Whether it’s with dogs, clients or yourself, patience is key. I know it can be SO hard sometimes but it helps tremendously.
