Arkansas Rising Star Finds Fulfilling Work and a Creative Outlet in Grooming
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Alexandra Burgess of Hounds Lounge in North Little Rock, Arkansas! Alexandra has plenty of natural talent for grooming and studied hard. We could tell she was really excited for the hands-on sections of the curriculum, and we know if she sticks with it she’ll make a great groomer one day!
Her mentor Suesan Watson, adds, “Alexandra did extremely well through the Groom Tech Program! She got great grades throughout and kept herself on track. I can’t wait to see where this journey leads her. If she should continue on this journey, I know that she will work equally hard to show that she has what it takes to be a groomer. Great job!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I have always had a passion for animals. I have had a few large, heavy coated breeds and grooming them was always such a fun process. My current dog is a 7 year old Great Pyrenees named Asuna. She has been a huge part of my career and helped me with more than one of my assignments. Grooming dogs has been the most fun and satisfying skill I have learned, and I love getting to treat other peoples pets as my own and teach them how to help better maintain their coats.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I loved trimming up the grinch feet. By far the most satisfying thing I’ve done.
Where can we see your work?
I will post on the Paragon Facebook Group as well as my personal Facebook page.
What are your future goals?
I would love to learn dye skills and be a creative groomer.
