Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as a career because I’ve always had a huge passion for animals! Animals have always been my #1 subject and working with them as a career makes my day to day life so much more enjoyable and fun.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I think what I’ve enjoyed MOST during my coursework is seeing all the different personalities of the dogs. They all are so different in so many ways, and you get to interact with these guys – to me it’s just enjoyable wondering what dog youre dealing with and trying to figure out if they’re in a good mood or a bad mood hahha. Obviously I enjoy learning new things too, My mentor and the school have taught me a lot since I began this program and the endless support from everyone and my company is outstanding!!
Where can we see your work?
You can see my work at my company store in Richardson! I don’t post any pictures of the dogs I groom yet sadly!!
What are your future goals?
I want to continue down this career path as I enjoy it very much. In the future I would eventually love to proceed on into Level 3 of the program and become a top stylist for AKC!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Don’t give up hope. You will get dogs that are entirely difficult and may feel impossible- but once you get more seasoned you’ll look back and laugh at the silliness of that situation! Just breathe, focus, and most importantly take your time!!
