IndiePet’s mission is to empower independent and neighborhood pet retailers to work together as peers for the wellbeing of North American pets and pet owners as they maintain a strong, sustainable and growing place at the heart of the pet industry.
Owning, running and growing a pet retail operation can be lonely work. Connecting and learning from peers can help independent pet businesses become better merchants and operators.
Topics addressed in IndiePet’s work include strategies for staffing and training, and expanding revenue streams for local neighborhood pet stores. This work aligns with Paragon’s programs that help pet businesses “grown their own groomers.”
History
IndiePet arose from conversations continued at SuperZoo throughout 2017 to 2020, with the formation of a steering committee to strengthen the indie pet ecosystem. The result was the establishment of the Independent & Neighborhood Pet Retail Association – now known as IndiePet.
