Deb Compton
Deb Compton is the Regional Grooming Team Lead for the Pet Supplies Plus franchises located in the Madison, WI and Austin, MN area. She specializes in grooming dogs for photography, marketing and television appearances. She also grooms show dogs who are actively showing in AKC events. Deb personally shows Bedlington Terriers and Miniature Poodles (2021) in AKC shows. Deb’s world-renowned, unique creative grooming techniques include coat carving, scissoring animals into the dog's hair and turning dogs into wild creatures, including a zebra pegasus, a jungle tableau, sloths, and a troop of monkeys. Deb started grooming in 2003. In 2011, she gave birth to her own grooming studio called “In the Dogz House” in Fitchburg, WI. In March 2019 her studio merged with Pet Supplies Plus. Upon the merge, her role as Regional Salon Leader was to oversee the store's current and future salons for Pet Supplies Plus. Deb has made splashes in the grooming industry locally and internationally. In addition, Deb consults for grooming industry businesses for product development, personal management, professional growth, business marketing, sales improvements and regularly hosts seminars to boost growth and promoting interest in the grooming competitions. In April 2018, Deb began traveling the world teaching other groomers her specialized skills in scissoring and creative grooming. She taught seminars in South Korea, Taiwan, Puerto Rico and all over the USA, has been featured on NPR "On Demand," and was a contestant on ABC’s '"Pooch Perfect" that premiered March 30, 2021. Deb was accompanied by her son, Jordan Jones, for the Pooch Perfect series, and finished in the top 5. Among Deb’s many international achievements are: Best Up and Coming Creative Groomer (All American Grooming Show, 2016); Best in Show World Championship Model Dog Individual Competitor in Creative Trim Styles, Best in Class Model Dog Individual Competitor in Creative Creations, Animal Instincts Trims (both from Model Dog World Championship Tour South Korea, 2019), and 2nd Place (All American Grooming Show, Chicago 2019)In this episode, Joe Zuccarello interviews Deb Compton, professional groomer and Pooch Perfect Contestant, about her path to success.
