This Rising Star's Lifelong Love of Animals Propelled Her From Family Pet Bather to Pro Groomer
Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Abigail Chester of Tails-a-Wagn’ in Claremore, Oklahoma! Abigail consistently produces stellar work and her love for animals really shows through in her assignments. We’re so impressed with her grooming and truly believe she has a bright career ahead of her!
Her mentor Priscilla Wall tells us, “Abby is an incredible student who always puts her best foot forward no matter what. She is naturally talented and every pup she sends in is just as beautifully groomed as the last. She is an asset to the grooming industry!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
From a young age, I have always loved animals. I was the one asked to bathe any dogs or cats we had, so when I started as a bather, I fell in love with the job. I started watching the groomers I worked with and wanted to be more hands-on with the dogs. Since I started my schooling, with Paragon, I have fallen in love with my job even more.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I think the thing I like most is the combination of reading, videos, and hands-on work. It would be much harder for distance learning if it was all books and video.
Where can we see your work?
I don’t post very much on social media, but I’m happy to share my photos with Paragon and my employer Tails-a-Wagn’.
What are your future goals?
Honestly, I’m a cat person. So after I have mastered dog grooming I want to learn to groom cats.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Each dog has their own personality, and treat each dog as if it were your own dog. If you can do each of these things, you work with the dogs and not against them.
