Dog Walker Branches Out Into Grooming
Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Caitlyn Parente from Pet Supplies Plus in Indianapolis, IN. Caitlyn traded in Dog Walking for a career in grooming, and all signs point to success!
Mentor Liz Thompson: “It has been so fun watching Caitlyn grow throughout level 1 and level 2. I have noticed significant growth in her work and she is always ready to improve with each dog that she works on. There is a visual sense of pride in her finished grooms and I really admire her honesty, perseverance and kindness with each conversation that we have through our messages. Caitlyn is going to be one of those groomers that clients flock to her table not only for her beautiful work but because she has a caring heart for each one of them.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always wanted to work with animals in one way or another, and I’ve owned animals my entire life. Before beginning my journey toward becoming a groomer, I was a dog walker, and I just decided to branch out and try a different animal centered career.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
So far I’ve enjoyed observing and learning from my fellow groomers, and seeing myself improve. Feeling proud of myself when I make a dog look his/her best as well!
What are your future goals?
I hope to continue to improve in my skill, as well as learn new skills in the field. In the future I hope to learn how to groom cats, and also creative grooming.
