From Veterinary Assistant to Professional Groomer: Chloe Mays’ Student Success Story

Meet Paragon Certified Professional Pet Groomer Chloe Mays! Based out of Petsense in Jasper, Georgia, Chloe brings dedication, patience, and a passion for animals into her grooming career. After previously working as a veterinary assistant, Chloe chose dog grooming as a fresh start that still allowed her to work closely with pets. Her commitment to growth and attention to detail have helped her continuously build confidence and skill throughout her grooming journey.

Her mentor, Suesan Watson, shares:

“Chloe has been such a hard-working student. She never stops trying to improve her skills. I know as she finishes with both levels here at Paragon, she will be an asset to the salon and make her clients proud that she is taking care of their pets. She puts a lot of detail into her work and likes to showcase every groom well. Congratulations Chloe!”

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?

Before becoming a dog groomer, I was a veterinary assistant. When I lost that previous job, I knew it was time for a fresh start. I wanted to stay in a career based around animals.

What did you enjoy most during your coursework?

The thing I enjoyed most about my coursework was getting to practice and seeing my skills constantly improve with every groom.

Where can we see your work?

You can view my work on my personal Facebook, and I’m currently grooming at PetSense. You can also follow me on Instagram at @chloe.jade24.

What are your future goals?

My future goal is to continue grooming and becoming highly skilled in all areas of grooming.

Any advice for aspiring groomers?

Practice truly does make perfect. Every practice dog helps you reach a goal and become better than you were before.
