This Rising Star's Return To Working With Animals Yields Impressive Results
Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Chris Myers of Petsense in Elizabeth City, North Carolina! We’re so glad that Chris decided to pursue a career in grooming, as his work proves that this is his true passion. Chris consistently turns in quality grooms, and we’ve also been impressed with how fast he’s able to absorb and implement feedback from his assignments.
His mentor Suesan Watson shares her thoughts, telling us, “I was so impressed with his performance in the Level 2 Pet Groomer Program. With every new skill, he put the critiques from a previous lesson into the new lesson, showing growth and understanding on each skill along with detailing the finishes of his grooms trying to perfect them. I was proud to be paired with him on this journey.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I used to work at the local SPCA but left to pursue a career in cooking. After 5 years of that I realized it wasn’t what I wanted to do in life so I left to pursue a career with animals again.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
Learning about and grooming Yorkies.
What are your future goals?
Hopefully to become a respected pet groomer.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Take your time. Be patient. Your first couple grooms aren’t going to be perfect. Keep practicing and you’ll eventually get it.
