Lexington Groomer Starts at 60 and Shines
Drew Anderson of Lexington, KY picked a new career at 60 – and they’re off to an incredible start! Grooming at Pet Supplies Plus – Lexington, KY, they just graduated Paragon’s Level 1 – Groom Tech program. We look forward to seeing more from them in the future!

From Drew:
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I am 60 years old and retired from military and government service after 35 years in various aspects of security. I have always had a strong love of animals, and worked part time at a veterinary clinic for 8 years as a pet nurse. I also became a certified Wildlife Rehabilitator. I began working at Pet Supplies Plus as a way to continue to be active and further my knowledge of pet care. When openings came for being a groomer trainee, I jumped on the opportunity. I love taking care of pets, and consider grooming to be not only an expression of art, but a way to keep serving pets and their owners to help maintain their healthy relationship.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole course. Videos and hands-on practicum are so valuable in retaining what I have been taught. I also loved having a great mentor, who was very responsive to my questions, concerns, and my somewhat obsessive nature for my submissions.
Are you currently employed, or still looking?
I am currently employed at Pet Supplies Plus.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to continue in my service of helping pets and their owners maintain a healthy and happy relationship as long as I am able.
