Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad: Finding Success and Setting A Positive Example For Her Kids

Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Elizabeth Nalbandian of Pet Play Place in Canton, Georgia! We’re so happy to see that Elizabeth found a way to follow her dreams and support her family. She’s a fast learner and we wish her lasting success!

Her mentor LaTonya Smith shares, “Elizabeth has been such a great student to mentor. I love her passion and drive! She listens to feedback well and allows me to push her out of her comfort zone.”

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?

I have always had a love of animals and knew I wanted to work with them. As a child I wanted to be a veterinarian. Life had other plans and I became a mother at only 20 years old. After having 3 kids and going through a heartbreaking divorce from their father, I went back to work, and when I did I found Pet Play Place.

Becoming a groomer was given to me as an opportunity for growth by Susan, the owner of the company. She saw potential in me, and I am so thankful. I love being able to make our customers and their dogs happy by bringing a smile to their faces through my grooms! It is the most rewarding feeling!

What did you enjoy most during your coursework?

I enjoy learning about the different breeds of dogs.

What are your future goals?

My goal is to become more financially stable so that I can comfortably support my 3 children and myself while loving what I do! I want to set an example for my kids that you really can follow your dreams but you have to do the work!

Any advice for aspiring groomers?

It’s okay to be nervous of the unknown. Everyone has to start somewhere. Follow your heart and see where it leads you!
