Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad: Indiana Pet Pro Finds Her Calling in Grooming

Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Ella Pierce of Petsense in Seymour, Indiana! Ella approaches grooming from a pet-first perspective. Her deep love and respect for animals is one of her greatest assets, and we’re so happy to see her having fun while working hard developing her skills. We can’t wait to see what she does next!

Her mentor Suesan Watson shares, “Ella excelled in this program and has worked hard to complete the level on time and with good grades throughout. I am excited to see where this journey will lead her! Congratulations.”

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?

I absolutely love animals and have always wanted a career that involves caring for them in some way. I had been working at Petsense for a year and we needed a groomer, so my manager encouraged me to take the position if I thought I’d enjoy it. I thought about it for a while and decided it was the right thing for me, and I’ve had such a wonderful experience so far! My family, fiancé, and coworkers have all been so helpful and supportive during my journey!

What did you enjoy most during your coursework?

I enjoyed interacting with all my practice dogs and applying the different techniques I had learned. My favorite part of grooming is stretch drying a curly coat, it’s so satisfying when it’s well done!

Where can we see your work?

You’ll be able to see my work on the Seymour Petsense Facebook page.

What are your future goals?

My future goals are to go through more Paragon education and hopefully become the Salon Lead at the Seymour Petsense!

Any advice for aspiring groomers?

Be patient and have fun! Every dog is different, but every one can make a positive impact on you and your career if you take the time and care to let them!
