Rising Star Finds His Dream Job and Community within the Grooming Career Path
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Josiah Williams of Petsense in Durant, Oklahoma! Josiah is an awesome student who isn’t afraid to ask questions and ensure he’s getting the job done right. We were also glad to see that he enjoys interacting with other groomers to share ideas and learn from their techniques. We foresee a bright future for him in grooming!
His mentor Jen McCarthy tells us, “Josiah has shown dedication to his schooling and passion for the career. He has worked hard to get through his program in only about a month! He is doing very well with all the coursework and photo submission tests. I know he is going to make a great groomer!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I always had an interest in working with animals and wanted to make a career out of it but didn’t know where to start. I found a position at Petsense as a team member, and then the groomer contacted me about an open grooming position. It’s been happily ever after since!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
Learning about breeds I never knew existed and getting to work alongside groomers that share my love for animals.
What are your future goals?
I’m content where I am as I further my experience.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from your mentors and try to be hands-on when you can so that tasks don’t feel foreign.
