Rising Star's Amazing Grooming Skills Owed To Hard Work and Dedication
Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Katie Derk of Pet Supplies Plus in Latrobe, Pennsylvania! Katie is one of the hardest-working students we’ve had at Paragon, and the grooms she produces, as a result, are nothing short of amazing!
Her mentor, Suesan Watson, is sure Katie has a bright future in grooming. “Katie should be so proud of the work she put into this program! She worked hard, submitted assignments on time, and completed the program early. She will do well in this field; she is dedicated to producing beautiful grooms and giving the pets in her care the attention they need.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I have always been drawn to dog grooming, and when the opportunity presented itself it felt right. I worked as a bather years ago which sparked my interest in grooming. Working with dogs every day made me feel satisfied, so I feel very fortunate to now have a fulfilling career.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I am always hungry for knowledge, so learning new things in any capacity is enjoyable to me.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to refine my grooming skills!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
If you want a fulfilling career working with dogs every day, do it! It is worth the work you put in.
