Meet Paragon Certified Groom Tech Kelly Gunkel! Based in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Kelly chose grooming as a career because of her love for animals and her passion for making them feel comfortable, happy, and cared for. With a goal of turning that passion into a career, Kelly has dedicated herself to learning the skills needed to become a confident and compassionate groomer.
Throughout her Paragon coursework, Kelly has embraced every opportunity to learn, from understanding how to properly care for different breeds to developing new grooming techniques. She has also shown an impressive commitment to applying feedback and continuing to improve, earning her recognition as a Paragon Rising Star!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose grooming as a career because I love all animals and wanted to work in a field where I could care for them. I want any animal I work with to feel as comfortable and happy as possible! It is my passion, so I decided to dedicate myself to making dog grooming my career.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
What I enjoyed most during coursework was learning how to properly care for different breeds and getting a good idea of different techniques.

I don’t have a designated social media or website just yet, but stay tuned for Kelly’s future grooming work!
What are your future goals?
My future goals in pet grooming are to continue improving my skills and gain more experience to become the best groomer I can possibly be!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
My advice to anyone who wants to be a groomer is to be patient with yourself. Remember that things take time. Treat every dog with patience, kindness, and love, because they can feel the difference.
