Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad: First Steps of a Dream Career
Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Groom Tech Kira Carter of Petsense in Henderson, Texas! Kira hit the ground running in the Groom Tech program and never slowed down. They are highly-motivated to become the best groomer they can be and we can’t wait to catch back up when they complete the Pet Groomer Program!
Kira’s mentor, Suesan Watson, shares, “I am nominating Kira because they worked hard to get where they are today. Kira stayed focused and communicated throughout the level which is why they completed early. They did well with the program work, learning the skills so that they have the foundations to move them to the next level. I am excited to see where this journey leads them. Great Job Kira!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always loved animals and have always wanted to help them. Ever since I was young, I wanted to work with animals. As the years went by, the dream just got pushed back but has always been in my mind. I have been watching pet grooming videos for a few years and one day I said, “ I want to do that. I want to help animals feel and look their best.” So I started looking for places to work and learn the trade. I found Paragon and really wanted to learn from this school. I ended up getting a job at Petsense, which teaches through Paragon, and I was very excited to learn!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I enjoyed working with all of the dogs on my assignments. I learn best by doing so being able to practice my skills was very helpful and my favorite part.
What are your future goals?
I hope to take the next level of Paragon and to become a professional pet groomer so I can fully help more dogs feel and look their best.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Get your hands on dogs as soon as you can. Doing the things you were taught helps so much and helps build your confidence.
