From New Beginnings to New Purpose: Kristi Leone’s Journey into Grooming
Meet Professional Groom Tech Student Kristi Leone! Based in Pittsburgh, Kristi brings resilience, heart, and a deep love for animals into her grooming journey. After decades in a completely different career, she embraced a new path rooted in healing, growth, and connection through pet care. Her story is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to start again and build something meaningful.

While things started off a bit rocky in the foundational stages, she truly leaned into the feedback, trusted the guidance provided, and stayed open to making adjustments. Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I was a Mortgage Professional for over 30 years when a tragic life event happened and I lost my husband. I decided to start working with animals through the Rover platform and built a small business. When I saw the opportunity Pet Supplies Plus was offering with paid schooling and employment, I jumped at it.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I honestly have enjoyed working on the large, heavy coated dogs. They make me smile and laugh, and they make me proud of what I am learning and putting into action.

What are your future goals?
I plan to continue building my skills and creating a strong foundation with both new and existing clients. I will be continuing my journey with Pet Supplies Plus and eventually plan to relocate to Michigan to be closer to my daughter and grandson.
