Stonewall Star Follows Her Lifelong Dream
Meet Rising Star Lisa Eason! Lisa decided to go all-in on grooming at 50, and now makes waves from her own shop, Busy Bones Bowtique! Lisa just graduated Paragon’s Level 2 – Pet Groomer course, and we couldn’t be more proud.
From Mentor Jilly Mucciarone: “She is working on her own. She showed incredible dedication and remarkable growth in her skills from Level One into Level Two! She’s a very talented groomer!”
From Lisa:
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
When I was a little girl, I would go with my mother to the groomer to pick up her toy poodle. I just loved going there. There were dogs everywhere. I have always wanted to learn how to groom. Looked into it years ago – telling my age – but there was no school anywhere close to my location, and at that time online school was not an option.
Finally at 50 years of age, I came across Paragon and I decided to finally just do it.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I love watching the videos and getting to work with all different breeds of dogs. I have always been so interested in it that it was just fun to watch, read, and learn all of the different tricks of the trade. When I would get stuck, my mentor was always helpful explaining things.
Are you currently employed, or still looking?
I raise Yorkshire Terriers and Biewer Terriers and used my garage as my workspace to bathe and brush my dogs. While studying at Paragon, my husband turned it into a full grooming salon. I have a hydraulic table, 2 dryers, bought a bigger tub, and replaced the garage door with a glass store front. My goal is to work at home in my own shop (Busy Bones Bowtique). I have never been employed by a grooming salon.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to build up my clientele at my salon. I would also like to become a Master Groomer – although I have a ways to go.
