We are all so impressed with the work of McKenzie Mees of Woofies in Leesburg, Virginia! She has recently completed Paragon’s DLP Level 2 program with flying colors, and we’re eager to see what she does next! Congratulations, McKenzie!

McKenzie came in the program with not only natural talent but determination and dedication. She finished the program in just 7 weeks, and that’s with having COVID-19 during this time!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I have had a passion for dogs for as long as I can remember. In fact, my parents say that my first word as a baby was actually “dog.” So naturally, I’ve always felt that my calling in life would be working with dogs in some capacity. I love the process of making dogs clean, comfortable, and beautiful – incorporating my own creativity into the process.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I loved learning how to groom stylized legs!
Are you currently employed, or still looking?
I am currently employed at Woofies in Ashburn Virginia.
What are your future goals?
I particularly have a passion for dogs who struggle with anxiety. My goals for the future are to become a groomer who is comfortable and confident in working with these dogs and able to make grooming a positive experience for them. I want to really make a difference in the lives of these dogs and in the quality of their care.
