From Pet Parent to Certified Groom Tech: Meet Paragon Graduate Rakael Hickombottom
Meet Paragon Certified Groom Tech Rakael Hickombottom! With Petsense in Natchez, Mississippi, Rakael turned her love for animals and desire to properly care for her own pets into the beginning of an exciting grooming career. Through hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, Rakael successfully completed Level 1 at Paragon and is continuing to build her confidence and skills in the grooming industry.
Her mentor, Suesan Watson, shares:
“Rakael worked incredibly hard to stay connected and stay on track throughout Level 1. She was eager to see what she needed to work on to improve and showcase her best work. Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I love animals, and I have pets of my own that need proper maintenance, so I had to learn.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I enjoyed the different dogs that I got to interact with and all the dog parents who didn’t mind me practicing on their fur babies!
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to continue grooming!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Don’t give up, no matter how overwhelming it gets. Take a breather and tell yourself, “You got this!” because you absolutely do. You have the ability to achieve anything you want in life!
