Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad: Here's an Aspiring Groomer That Confidently Aims High
Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Professional Groom Tech Rose Beyer of Kennelwood Pet Resort in Maryville, Illinois! Rose is a talented groomer with dreams of specializing in more creative grooming, and we have no doubt she’ll get there. We’re so excited to see what the future holds for her!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I originally didn’t plan on staying in the pet care field for long. After watching my coworkers completely transform a dog in a few hours, I fell in love with grooming. I’m amazed at all of the different styles you can do with grooming and how creative it is. Once I started officially working on dogs it just solidified my plans to become a dog groomer and I wish I would have started sooner!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I really enjoyed all of the tips and tricks that Paragon provided about how to best care for each dogs’ coat. I’m a big fan of tailoring my work to fit each dog so learning even more ways to do that was a big plus for me.

What are your future goals?
One day I hope to focus on breed standard cuts and creative grooming. These are two things that have always interested me and I want to learn as much about them as possible.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
My biggest tip for aspiring groomers is to not be too hard on yourself. I know that in the beginning I struggled a lot with comparing my work to my coworkers and expecting to be perfect from the start but over time I realized that there’s always room for improvement in grooming and that judging yourself harshly will get you nowhere.
