Standout Student Shows Off Skills
Samantha Hare has shown speed and skill in her grooming work! She graduated Paragon’s Level 1 Groom Tech program with flying colors. She currently works at Pet Supplies Plus in Homer Glen, Illinois, and plans to become a certified groomer!
“Samantha flew through her Level 1 coursework with ease. She achieved high submission scores with very few adjustments needed. I am very impressed with her level of skill and truly look forward so see what she can bring in Level 2,” said Mentor Liz Thompson.

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as a career because I have always wanted to do something regarding working with animals. Ever since I was young I wanted to be a veterinarian until I found out what grooming was. A few years ago, I was a pet bather at a private salon and just fell in love with it. It was hard for me to even leave when the time came because I was so attached to the animals. I have 1 dog and 2 cats and have had multiple more in the past. It’s just a really fun environment to work in, there’s never a dull day working with animals.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
What I enjoyed most in my coursework was how easily everything was explained and how you have someone to go to whenever you have questions. I never felt alone or as if I was struggling because I didn’t understand something. The videos are also a HUGE help to show you exactly what you should be working with. I also really enjoy reading Notes From The Grooming Table as it’s very easy to find what you’re looking for and it’s very straightforward. The hands on work is also very satisfying. For example, learning how to create a natural foot was my favorite because it’s so satisfying to see how nice and neat it turns out to be!
Are you currently employed, or still looking?
I am currently employed. I work at Pet Supplies Plus as a pet bather. It’s always a fun environment to work in and I truly love it here.
What are your future goals?
My future goals include becoming a certified groomer for sure. I can’t wait until I get there, It will just bring in more opportunities and really show what I can do more with pets. I also hope to maybe own my own salon one day. After working at a private salon it just seems like a lot of fun to own your own place that pets can come to.
