Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?

I chose to become a groomer because of my lifelong love and passion for animals. Helping pets has always brought me joy, and I wanted a career that would allow me to make a positive difference in their lives every day.

Grooming is more than making a pet look good. It’s about helping them feel comfortable, healthy, and cared for. I love building trust with animals, especially those who may be nervous or unsure, and seeing them leave happier and more confident than when they arrived.

Becoming a professional groomer allows me to combine my compassion for animals with a skill that helps improve their well-being. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and provide pets with the care and kindness they deserve, and that is what makes this career so meaningful to me.

What did you enjoy most during your coursework?

The opportunity to get hands-on and start grooming. Being able to apply what I was learning in a real-world setting helped build my confidence and made every lesson meaningful.

Where can we see your work?

I am currently building my professional portfolio as I continue my education through Paragon. At this time, my work can be seen through my training progress and hands-on experience as I develop my skills and grow in the grooming industry.

What are your future goals?

My future goal is to become a certified professional groomer known for providing compassionate, high-quality care to every pet that comes to my table. I want to continue expanding my knowledge and skills so I can confidently work with a variety of breeds, coat types, and grooming needs.

As I grow in my career, I hope to continue growing with Pet Supplies Plus, taking on new opportunities to develop professionally and make a positive impact on the pets and families I serve. I would also love to become a mentor one day, helping guide and encourage future grooming students as they begin their own journeys in the industry.

Long term, I hope to continue advancing my education and expertise while building a career centered on animal care, trust, and compassion. One day, I would love the opportunity to own and operate a mobile grooming van, allowing me to bring quality grooming services directly to pets while creating a comfortable and personalized experience for them and their owners.

Above all, my goal is to make a difference in the lives of animals every day and build a career that reflects my passion, dedication, and love for their well-being.

Any advice for aspiring groomers?

My advice for aspiring groomers is to never stop learning and to always lead with patience and compassion. Grooming is a skill that takes time to develop, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t master everything right away. Every groom, every challenge, and every pet you work with is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Remember that grooming is about more than creating a beautiful haircut. It’s about the health, comfort, and well-being of the animal in your care. Take the time to build trust with the pets you work with, stay open to feedback, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Most importantly, keep your passion for animals at the center of everything you do. The techniques and skills will come with practice, but a genuine love for animals is what truly makes a great groomer.
