Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Professional Groom Tech SammieJo Ham of PetSuites in McKinney, Texas! SammieJo has worked with pets for years and has chosen to become a groomer as her next chapter. She’s eager to learn everything she can, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I was a dog trainer for 6 years, and after my Rhodesian Ridgeback passed away, I wanted to look into something else. I love animals and wanted to continue my work in the animal industry. I was grooming my little Morkiepoo at home and enjoyed the work, so I thought to myself, “dog grooming!” I wanted to learn more than just baths and drying.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I enjoyed seeing the results of curly/wavy dogs! I love the fluffy look afterwards.

What are your future goals?
My future goals are to learn different styles of grooming, not just my own Morkiepoo.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
If you enjoy it outside, get inside the door and do it! You never know what you will learn each day with these courses!
