Rising Star Finds Purpose In Helping Fearful Dogs Enjoy The Grooming Process
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Sebastian Delacruz of Pet Supplies Plus in Buffalo, New York! Sebastian truly loves animals, especially dogs, and we’re so happy to see his interest in helping “difficult” animals that need grooming and bathing the most. This is what has propelled him forward through the program and we’re sure he’ll make a splash in the grooming world!
Just ask his mentor mentor Suesan Watson, who tells us, “Sebastian did extremely well throughout Level 1, he got very good grades on program work and submission showing he was on the journey for a reason. I have do doubt that will be anything that is going to hold him back from reaching what he set out to get. Go get your dream! Well done!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always wanted to help animals, but dogs hold a place in my heart no one else can come close to! I love the fact that I can change how a dog feels just with a bath, a haircut or even a nail trim.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I enjoyed learning everything I could about grooming and dog anatomy! It was surprisingly fun to learn and I love that it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was once I pushed through it.

What are your future goals?
My goals are to groom as many ‘aggressive’ or ‘reactive’ dogs as possible. Since I’ve first begun grooming, I’ve had my handful of ‘aggressive’ dogs that just weren’t given a chance. I want to be the change and give every dog the benefit of the doubt.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Don’t give up, it hard at first and you’re gonna have a lot on your plate but it’s worth it. Hold your head up high and NEVER be scared to ask for help or recommendations! There’s always going to be someone to help you 🙂
