Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad: Unstoppable Determination To Master Grooming Skills
Meet Rising Star and Paragon Certified Professional Groom Tech Stephanie Schiffelbein of Barktopia in Wichita, Kansas! Stephanie is a rockstar student who consistently delivers outstanding work. We’re so excited to hear she’ll be back for the Pet Groomer program and can’t wait to see her skills grow even more!
Her mentor, Brandy Reese, adds, “Stephanie is making a major career change-from social work to pet grooming! Stephanie works hard on her submissions and is always open to feedback on ways to improve her work. She is very determined to master the skills being taught and is an amazing student! She absolutely CRUSHED her Level 1 photo submissions, and I can’t wait to see how well she does in Level 2!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming because I love working with animals, and I want to spend my days working with them. I want a career that combines creativity and skill and that will motivate me to make a difference in a pet’s health. I love building trusting relationships with both the animals as well as their owners.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I must say that I have enjoyed the practical experience of working with different breeds and learning how to handle their unique traits, which made the learning process more engaging. The clear video lessons and mentorship were a highlight, providing a more visual and effective way to understand the steps involved in grooming. Seeing the finished result and receiving positive feedback also led to a strong sense of accomplishment.
Where can we see your work?
I am currently in the process of building a portfolio on the company’s business website. I will also be creating my own social media web page to show before and after grooming photos, but again, that is all in the works right now.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to complete Level 2 of the Paragon School of Grooming. Expand my specialization of dog grooming services, as well as focusing on specific breed standards. I would also like to improve and expand my clientele.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
My advice for any aspiring dog groomers would be that if you can dream it, you can do it. Don’t give up and keep going. Continue learning and invest in your skills through seminars and other educational opportunities.
