Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad: Dedication Yields Amazing Progress in a Short Amount of Time
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Sydney Hunnicutt of Pet Supplies Plus in Irmo, South Carolina! It’s pretty clear to us that Sydney has found her calling in grooming. She’s proved her passion, talent, and dedication during her coursework and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes her!
Her mentor Jen McCarthy shares, “Sydney flew through the groom tech program, finishing over three weeks early. She has read through lessons thoroughly, followed directions and guidelines, and earned great grades on coursework and photo submission tests! What dedication!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I have a huge passion for dogs, so finding a creative outlet where I get to work with dogs of all shapes and sizes has truly been my dream. Every day is different from the last and I feel like I get to learn new things each day.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
Seeing my own improvement. I can look back at my first submissions and already see an improvement. I also have always enjoyed learning new things, and Paragon has definitely allowed me to do that.

What are your future goals?
To continue expanding my skills as a groomer and to be able to help the dogs that are often turned away or are in desperate need of help. Seeing owner’s faces when you bring out their babies looking clean and happy is the best feeling.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Be prepared to have the most rewarding career, but also the patience to endure a lot! Also, be prepared to make mistakes and have the humility to accept them and learn from them!
