Rising Star Leverages Experience Bathing Dogs to Jumpstart Grooming Career
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Jacy Welling of PetSuites in Greenwood, Indiana! Jacy’s previous experience as a bather gave her a running start when making the switch to grooming, and we’ve been continually impressed by her ability to tackle new challenges too.
Her mentor Jen McCarthy also notes Jacy’s skills, telling us, “She has done very well with both the computer work and the photo submission tests. She has been a hard worker and made sure to listen to feedback and take it back and apply it to her work. A wonderful student all around!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I have been working with dogs for 2 years at a boarding facility and knew I wanted a career with them. I love being able to be active and on my feet during the day. Grooming was a perfect fit for me!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I love learning and growing in general, but most of all I had so much fun trimming feet!
Where can we see your work?
I do not have social media for my work, but plan to make it!
What are your future goals?
I hope to build my speed and be able to work on more dogs each day. I am so excited to build relationships with clients!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
My advice is to have patience with yourself. Learning something new is never easy and takes a lot of time and patience.
