Kentucky Rising Star Soars Through Groom Tech Program with Stellar Work Ethic
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Kiayla Stakelin of Petsense in Georgetown, Kentucky! Kiayla worked hard to complete the program, which shows in the quality of her grooming. She’s a fast learner, and this, combined with her passion for animals, is sure to propel her grooming greatness.
Kiala’s Mentor, Suesan Watson, tells us, “Kiayla was a part-time Groom Tech student and did super well. She stayed on track and put everything she was learning to good use on the pets worked on. I have no doubt if she moves forward, she will give it 110% and use what she learned from the Groom Tech Program to make herself excel.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always known I wanted to work with animals! I started working in a pet store that has a grooming salon, and immediately knew that’s where I wanted to end up long term. I already know this is the perfect career path for me!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I most enjoyed meeting and getting to know the dogs and owners to start to build clientele throughout my small community.

What are your future goals?
I am currently in the process of enrolling in Level 2: Pet Groomer program.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! I also found it very helpful to join Facebook groups and watch YouTube videos!
