Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Cassandra Parker from Pet Supplies Plus in South Bend, IN. Her technique, animal-loving nature and quest to make dogs in her care look great set her apart!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose to be a dog groomer because I was born to work with animals! Being around animals improves any mood on any day. I’m really crafty, too. I’m good at making things look nice.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
Once I got a hang of using my clippers, that became my favorite part of the job. It’s so I’m oddly satisfying to make that first pass and see a ton of hair just slide off.

What are your future goals?
I want to keep learning and honing my skills. I’d like to take some classes in pet first aid/CPR/emergency care and specialize with senior dogs. I’d also like to take a course specifically for cat grooming.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Making mistakes is how you learn. Grow through what you go through.
