Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Gustavo L. de Araujo of Pooch Hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut! Gustavo is one of the most passionate groomers we’ve ever seen, and watching him progress through the Groom Tech program has truly been a gift.
His coach, Jen McCarthy has this to say about Gustavo, “He has shown such dedication and hard work throughout the whole level. Always asks questions if he is unsure and takes feedback very well. He has shown such a natural talent in every photo submission test as well! His excitement for this new career and his care for each animal shows in everything he does! So very proud of him!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I’ve always had a passion for all dogs, and I’ve had dogs my whole life. Currently, I have 3 at home now: two Yorkies and a Mini-Goldendoodle. I believe you have to love what you do to be great at it – and that is my goal in life.
An accident with one of my dogs in a grooming salon inspired me to become a groomer, at first just to groom my dogs myself. As a professional groomer, I can bring love and care to all other dogs as if they were my own!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
Getting kisses from the dogs and feeling the magic of growing and learning with them.

I already have an Instagram set up for my future grooming, called @pawspawbygus for people that would like to follow me!
What are your future goals?
To grow as far as I can and let the universe guide me through this fun career!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
If you got passion in you, don’t waste time and follow that happiness! Believe in yourself and trust the process.
