This Rising Star's Impressive Speed and Accuracy Continues to Turn Heads at Paragon
Meet Paragon Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Haley Wandahovich of Groomingdale’s Pet Salon in Frankfort, Illinois! When we last featured Haley, she had just breezed through our Groom Tech Program, and it was no surprise to us that she completed our Pet Groomer program just as quickly. What makes this impressive is the quality of her work every step of the way – normally you only see one or the other in new groomers.
Haley’s mentor Suesan Watson elaborates, “Haley did Levels 1 and 2 and did them so well that she finished them early, she wasn’t even scheduled to complete Level 1 until July! She couldn’t wait to have her work checked and pointers be given so she could improve on the next dog she worked on so she could show me how she applied the corrections. I know she has a great future ahead of her in the grooming world.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as a career because it is such a rewarding career, and growing up I knew I wanted to work with animals. I began as a bather and after about two years I knew this is what I wanted to do.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I enjoyed being able to get tips on how I can fix each of my mistakes and make each groom better!

What are your future goals?
To build a large clientele in the salon and explore mobile grooming.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Even when you are stuck on one course don’t give up! Send your mentor each of your grooms before photo submission so you can fix any mistakes!
