Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad: Read This Next Chapter of a Grooming Rockstar's Story
Meet Rising Star and Pet Groomer Grad Hana Miskelova of Bayside Pet Resort at Lakewood Ranch, Florida! The grooming profession found Hana by chance, but she’s all-in and loving every second of her journey. Another thing to note, Hana has excellent customer service skills, and we have no doubt she’ll be a runaway success in the years to come.
Her mentor Bethani Oaks agrees, telling us, “Hana is truly dedicated to her skills, putting in hard work with each groom she completes. Hana consistently applies the advice she receives, showing real improvement in her technique with every dog she works on. Her commitment to growth and skill development is truly inspiring! Keep up the amazing work, Hana! 👏🐾”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
The career chose me; it fell in my lap and I decided to pursue it. I’ve been extremely happy since day one and the rest is history. I start my day with a smile and I end it feeling rewarded. Plus, I get to bond and work with cute fury faces everyday!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
At first I was terrified of clippers because I didn’t want to accidentally cut the dog, but as time went by, it has become one of my favorite things to do during the grooming process. I invested in Zolitta Wide blades and Guard Combs and I love the finish they give my dogs. So yeah, Blading and guard combing is my favorite part, and of course trying out different dog grooming products!

What are your future goals?
Being a groomer, you never stop learning. Each year there are new products to test out! I plan to take some additional creative styling courses to learn how to dye fur and pick up some new shearing techniques for creative grooming. I also plan to take a certified aesthetician course to become more knowledgeable about the health of the canine skin and coat.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Invest back into yourself and the business. I take my tips and buy new products to try out and take note of what works on some coats and not others. Invest in good shears, thinners, chunkers, and curves – I use those the most.
And last but not least, have great customer service skills! Be social, friendly, and genuine with the clientele. People love their dogs very much and see them as their fur children. If a pup was a tad naughty, always try to come across positively to the owner regarding the grooming experience. I never tell Mom or Dad their pup was naughty, instead, I tell them there are three categories the kiddos fall into: Good Boy, Good Girl, and Ohhhh My Goodness! 🤣 Parents always laugh and remain open to any suggestions I have for in between at-home grooming 🙂
