This Rising Star Seized Opportunity and Discovered A Deep Love of Grooming
Meet Rising Star and Groom Tech Grad Jasmin Lewis of Petsense in Greenville, Mississippi! The way we hear Jasmin talk about grooming, we see that she’s truly doing what she loves, and her work reflects her drive and her dedication. We’re so glad she’s continuing her pursuit of grooming in the Pet Groomer program!
Her coach Suesan Watson has nothing but praise for Jasmin, telling us, “Jasmin has worked hard throughout the Groom Tech program. She communicates well and stays on task. I have no doubt that as she continues, she will do what it takes to succeed on the journey she is on.”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I eventually grew tired of working in restaurants. I knew my hard work would be appreciated elsewhere. When I heard about being a groomer at Petsense, I knew it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I’m very blessed that I was given this opportunity, and it turned out to be something I love doing and learning about.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I loved the practice work. Doing the actual work on dogs that I was learning about was absolutely amazing. When you’re really enjoying what you’re doing, it shows in your work. As my skills progressed, I loved seeing my grooms on dogs – it really brings them to life. I’m very thankful for this opportunity.
Where can we see your work?
After I complete the Pet Groomer Program, my work will be posted on a Facebook page made for our local Petsense.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
Always ask questions! It’s okay to ask for help. We all should be here to help each other. It’s not easy, and asking for help shouldn’t make you feel like you’re a burden. We all learn. No one can judge your work better than yourself. Be your own grooming critic. Also, lean on your mentor. They give the best tips and advice. They are there to guide you in the right direction.
