Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming as my career because I’m very passionate about proper pet care. I started off in the pet industry as a dog daycare attendant, I loved my position very much and wanted to expand my career in the pet industry. Dog grooming called to me because it allows you to work closely with a variety of different dogs. It also allows you to be creative and artistic which are also attributes that I love about my job.
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
I loved every aspect of my coursework, but most of all I really enjoyed working side by side with my fellow groomers. My coach and others were so helpful throughout my learning process. They provided a lot of tips and advice that allowed me to grow into the groomer I am today.
Where can we see your work?
The best way to see my work is on my professional grooming account on Instagram, my username is @jenna.dog.grooming!
What are your future goals?
My future goal is to build a strong clientele and work on creating strong relationships with both pets and pet parents.
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
The best piece of advice I can give to up and coming groomers is to be patient. Be patient with yourself, learning a new skill is difficult. It requires a lot of patience and effort. Most importantly be patient with the dogs you are grooming. Every dog has a different temperament level and some dogs require special handling/lots of love to help make their experience in the salon more enjoyable.
