His progress has been astounding and we’re eager to see the grand opening of his grooming business someday!
Mikkel’s mentor Lauren Najjar tells us, “Not only takes critique and applies it beautifully, he is always so enthusiastic and excited to learn and practice! His work has impressed me more and more with each pup! A true rising star!”
Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
My wife has always worked with animals: first at a cat rescue center, and then completed her education as a vet tech 4 years ago. All this time seeing her work with animals and my own love for cats and dogs combined with the urge to start my own business. Suddenly it hit me: become a dog groomer!
I am an educated carpenter and still working as one. I am used to working with my hands so dog grooming feels like the right choice for me. Throughout these two months I’ve spent learning, it really feels like I am meant to do this!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
All of it! I really like that I get to be my own boss and planning my own practice around dogs. I am currently still working as a carpenter, and learning as many details as I can from the books I’m reading. Most of all, the great help and feedback from my mentor was really helpful and allowed me to get the hang of things quickly.
Where can we see your work?
On my Facebook page and Instagram. There is not a lot yet, but more will come!
What are your future goals?
Building a great business with a lot of great customers and keep learning new grooming techniques!
Any advice for aspiring groomers?
No matter what you are doing now, if you want to be a groomer, DO IT!
