This South Carolina Rising Star Is A Fast, Dedicated Learner
Shawn Wimmer of Petsense in Ladson, SC has all of us at Paragon so impressed with the speed and quality of her work. She mastered Paragon’s Level 1 DLP program in record time while producing quality grooms, and we couldn’t be more proud of her progress. Congratulations, Shawn!

Why did you choose dog grooming as a career?
I chose dog grooming because I enjoy problem-solving, being creative, continuous learning, helping others, and seeing the results of hard work. Dog grooming allows me to do all of those things – all day long!
What did you enjoy most during your coursework?
The most rewarding part of the coursework for me so far is when everything “clicks.” I’ll be honest, there have been several times when I’ve been afraid to tackle one of the lesson assignments just because of inexperience – and I’m alone in the shop too – so I don’t have anyone to pull me back when I’m about to make a mistake. To see and feel myself move from that feeling to one of confidence with the same skill is really exciting.
Are you currently employed, or still looking?
Yes, for about two more weeks! Until June 30th, I’m a school principal at Westview Elementary School. At the end of this month, I’ll be stepping away from my role in educating little people and teachers to helping pets and pet parents at Petsense.
What are your future goals?
My future goals include building a network of enthusiastic and passionate people to lean on and learn from in this industry. One day, I would love to participate in competitive grooming. Aim high, right?
